Fernando Sanchez is Regional Director, Training Operations/Deputy Head of Training, Chief Flight/Theoretical Knowledge Instructor – EASA. In addition to the duties and responsibilities that are associated with the RDTO role Fernando is responsible for assisting the HOT with the day to day running of the ATO, standardization of the SFIs and SFEs and interaction with the regulators. Fernando joined FlightSafety in February 2011 as an instructor at the Farnborough Learning Center. He served as an instructor and Program Manager in the Citation Jet 2 and Mustang programs before progressing to Assistant Director of Training. Fernando most recently worked as Director of Training for the Farnborough Learning Center. Prior to joining FlightSafety Fernando flew as a military pilot for the Chilean Air Force, with experience in the A-37, F-5E/F and F-16 Block 50 aircraft. Fernando instructed at the Chilean Air Force Academy and qualified as a Test Pilot at the Empire Test Pilot School, UK. He was awarded an MSc degree in Human Factors and Safety Assessment in Aeronautics from Cranfield University, UK. Fernando is a certified Project Manager Professional by the Project Management Institute and has over 3,000 hours of flying experience in more than 40 types, holding EASA SFI and SFE certificates in the C510 and C525 aircraft.
