Patrick started his career in security, 30 years ago as a Police Officer. He then joined Malta Customs where he took lead for training at the Malta Customs Department Canine Unit for 16 years. During time Patrick was involved in dog training and operations in Malta, the UK and Germany.
Following this spell with canine operations, he then moved on towards the Regulatory Area of Civil Aviation Security when he worked with the AVSEC Malta for four years. During this tenure, Patrick was a National Security Auditor and also an active member of the European Commission AVSEC Regulatory Committee.
In 2009 he joined the Malta International Airport (MIA) as an Aviation Security & Training Consultant, after which he was promoted to Airport Security Manager, and then to Head of Security, Fire & Rescue of the Airport. A position he occupied until the end of 2014.
In January 2015 he joined the United Arab Emirates, General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) as a Senior Aviation Security Advisor. During these years, Patrick worked on various National and International projects and assignments on behalf of the UAE Government. A position maintained until February 2019.
As from February 2019 Patrick joined Bahrain International Airport and to date he holds the position of Vice President Aviation Security & RFFS. He is the nominated Airport Security Post Holder by the Kingdom of Bahrain. His responsibilities entail amongst others the corporate RFFS related responsibilities and full Security Management of Bahrain International Airport, aviation security training, and the full coordination with regards to all security and RFFS issues for Bahrain International Airport.
Patrick is a certified European Commission Security Inspector, a certified ECAC Security Auditor, and a certified ICAO Aviation Security Instructor. He has also been providing his services as an AVSEC coach to the European Aviation Security Training Institute (EASTI) in Brussels for the past 10 years.
He holds a Masters Degree in Business Management (MBA) from the Henley Management College in the UK, and a Masters Degree in Creativity & Innovation from the University of Malta and an international Diploma in Airport Management. He further holds various other recognised airport operations, canine, RFFS and aviation security related qualifications and certifications.
